Welcome to the Friderichs winery, which is located in Ediger, in the heart of the unique Mosel valley with its terraced and steep site vineyards.
Wine growing in the Friderichs Family has been tradition since 1469.
Wine makers are the senior boss Klemens Friderichs and his son-in-law Klaus Fett, who has taken over the business in 2005. With a respect for traditional methods and a modern approach to wine making we use stainless steel tanks for the white wines and the old oak barrels to make red wine.
Our vine varieties are Riesling, Rivaner and Pinot blanc, but we also grow red grapes like Pinot Noir, St. Laurent and Dornfelder. We grow most of our vines on steep, south-facing sites. The slaty soil, which is typical of our region and the climate give the Mosel wines their distinctive special taste, they are very fruity with mineral components.
We are committed to quality control in the vineyards but also in the cellar. By restricting our yields we manage to improve the quality of the grapes. We achieve this by applying a different way of pruning and late harvesting but also by gentle pressing without destroying the stalks of the grapes. The careful maturing in the cask by gentle vinification is also important to create a unique wine.
Spend your vacation in the picturesque, stunning landscape of the Mosel valley and explore the narrow old streets of Ediger with the old wooden frame houses. Visit our winery and experience the variety of Mosel wines by tasting our wines on our terrace facing the river or in our tasting room. We also offer tours of the vineyards for groups followed by wine tastings and visits of the vaulted callar by prior appointment.
